Stereo Panels

Will an 89-91 Stereo Panel fit in an 88???
I was told that the 89 is a better material and won't crack as easy as the 86-88s.

Yes, but...

The series 5 (89-92) radio bezel will fit on an series 4 (86-88) car, however you will need to also change the shifter surround, and the dash vents.

The 89-92 bezel is no less prone to cracking than the earlier version, its just there is a rubberized coating/covering that won't show the cracks as easy. when the later version's plastic gets cracked, the rubber coating tends to warp in unusual directions. This problem is more apperent in warmer climates like the southwest US.

The other draw back to the later dash panel is that the vents are pushed further out of the dash while the logicon looks to be further tucked into it (although that is an optical illusion).

You also can not use a stock 86-88 CD or AE system with the series 5 dash panel as the opening in smaller.
