DIN = 7"x2" x less than 10"

Its the standard sized retangular deck made for the aftermarket for the last 15 years that you would buy at any stereo shop. It has been the standard german deck since the late 60's.

and double din is 7"x 4.125" x less than 10" It is the double sized standard deck

and you need to find another installer if he couldn't tell, as that is one of the most basic installation things out there and if he or she didn't know, they probably should not be even sitting in your car well alone having you consider buying something from them.

I have a Rockford Fosgate 8210. One of the earlier models and it doesn't skip much with my stiff *** suspension. trust me it's stiff.

I just had Circuit City do an awesome job, headrest speakers and all.

Got a Panasonic single disc detachable face with cool changeable display colors, plus they had a kit (in stock) to put a pocket under the radio....sounds incredible.

All old stuff had to come out, and vert has no rear speakers. But doable if you find someone willing to go through the hassle.

Yep- same here- got a kickin' system installed in my vert at best buy- not difficult at all. And 6x9's fit really well in the front of the spare cover (if you remove the flip up air deflector gimmick!) for rears.

I just installed a new head unit in my car literally two days ago... I got the wiring harness from CC as well as the mounting bracket. each was like 16.99 (but my friend works at CC, so we used his discount) :-D anyway, install it on your own if you have any experience at all, just remember to bypass the amp (much easier to do than you would think) However, I would NOT reccomend circuit city to install it, I would go with Best Buy any day over CC, but to each his own

i want to get either a pioneer or alpine head unit, and new speakers for my birthday. the only thing is the previous owner put in an aftermarket sony casseste deck which is now shot beyond belief, and it looks like they cut the little frame part to make it fit. is that gonna **** me when i go to install a new one?

IMO Circuit city and the like are pretty over priced on their audio stuff. Plus their installations are a rip off. Ive never seen them solder anything at the places here. Usually just twisting wires + tape or crimps.

i installed a blaupunkt head about a month ago, its decent, has the wiring diagram right on top of it. It was very straighforward. If you can, do it yourself. you learn alot more than having someone tell you what they did to your car.

First off, go with alpine. Second, it depends where on the frame they cut... if it's on the side, then you are in business because mounting kits come with new sides anyway. However, if they cut the top... well... it could mess you up a little bit, but probably not much... do you have any pix?

The previous owner of my car had Best Buy put in a Sony Xplod MP3/CD player and Rockford Fosgate speakers. They used the plastic fitting with the pocket under the unit. The rear speakers look like they're smaller than what could fit in there. There's this black disc which the speaker is screwed into that is then screwed in. The speakers have pathetic bass. My dad picked up a cheap box setup of 2x10" woofers and 2 tweeters at a garage sale. I wired it up to the rears, and I disconnected those rear speakers. It sounds much better, but it's just temporary. I plan to put in better speakers and eventually an amp and subs. By the way, Best Buy cracked the strereo surround the passenger side rear tower cover. Oh, and I agree that Alpine is the best.

go to circuit city and ask them for a Metra Turbokit (one word) auto stereo installation system. It should say "99-7501" on the upper left of the bag and on the right side should say "mazda multi-kit 1988-95" (but don't worry, it will it in a 86 or 87 rx-7 as well) I used this to convert it into a single din and then installed my aiwa cdc-mp3 :-) yay 150 songs on one disk
