Thumbs up Steering Wheel Replacement writeup

Hey guys I didnt do much of a search for this one, but I recently replaced my steering wheel with an aftermarket one, so if there isnt a writeup out there heres mine. First off buy everything and have it ready to go, this took me about 2 weeks of having to exchange everything for the right part(s). Ok now make 100% sure the steering wheel is straight ahead, I had to do this twice because I did the project at night and wasnt paying attention. Now with your wheel, steering wheel puller, hub adapter, philips screwdriver, and ratchet with socket(21mm) in hand and ready to go you will need to unscrew the 4 screws from behind the wheel for the faceplate to come off, after doing so disconnect the horn wires and remove the faceplate carefully. Now unscrew the bolt that is holding the steering wheel on, once thats done put the steering wheel puller on by taking the 2 long screws and sliding them through the hoops of the puller istelf and screwing them into the steering wheel, now slowly begin tightening the main bolt on the puller until the wheel pops off. Now take the hub adapter and line the teeth up making sure the holes on the hub adapter and the wheel will line up to be straight slide it on until you can no longer slide it on, make sure the horn wire on the adapter is still reachable. Now tighten the nut back onto the bolt slowly to make sure it all fits. Align the steering wheel to the adapter and screw it on, I used alen screws just to make sure no one would steal my steering wheel . Once thats all done hook your horn back up, test to make sure it works now pop the horn button onto the wheel and make sure everything is working, dont try any really hard corners for a while make sure its all properly aligned before you try anything stupid, now you dont have to do this but I retorqued my steeringwheel after about a month to make sure it was still tight. I hope this helps someone out there, I bought all my parts through autozone, they rent the steering wheel puller for free even. Have fun.

Hate to be a bitch, but I thought there was going to be a step by step on what to remove and how .

great idea but if anyone needs a writeup for replacing a steering wheel then they shouldn't be working on a car.

i didn't need a steering wheel puller to remove the wheel out of my GXL. I lost the key, so in order to move the car up my driveway i needed the steering wheel unlocked, after removing the column covers, instrument surround, and the steering wheel i see a flange with bolts wrapped around the column with the bottom side holding on the ignition lock, the bolts on top look kind of like rivets and are completely round at the head so you have to take a chisel and hammer to remove the bolts. (I basically wrote this so it can be found if anyone is searching for it, because I had a hard time finding out that those round bolt heads were actally bolts.)
BTW, if you remove the steering wheel by hand, keep the nut threaded on 2-3 threads tight, that way when the steering wheels pops loose it doesn't break your nose.
