steering wheel removal problem

I'm having trouble getting the horn pad off to remove the steering wheel. The Haynes manual says there is a third screw underneath the center plastic cover, but I can't seem to find it. All the threads that have been posted so far on this issue just state that the third screw exists, but they don't tell you where to find it. Others stated that they just broke the plastic that holds the third screw, but this isn't the route I want to take. Any help?

According to your profile, you have a 1st gen- why are you posting in the 2nd gen tech section?

Its right under the 3rd spoke.

Or do you have one of the 2-spoke wheels? In that case, I don't know. It has to be on the back somewhere. Just remove the 2 that you can find, and move the cover around to see where it is still attached and look there.

In fact, there might only be 2 screws on the 2-spokes.

Yeah, it's only two spokes. The pad is on there pretty good after removing the two screws so it definitely feels like there is a third. I just can't seem to find it. I didn't think something this trivial would have given me so much trouble, lol.
