Steering response!

When i first picked up my project car last year and drove it for the first time, the one thing that struck me was how little communication there was between the steering wheel and the tires. I mean my mazda protege 5 had much lighter steering but it talked much more than the RX did.

So here's my question to all you car nuts. What have you done (or recommend) to sharpen up up steering response and steering feel?

I know alot of people swear by good old school manual racks while some prefer a depowered PS unit. I've read that some people user MR2 powersteering pumps in place of the factory units. I would also assume that other components of the steering system such as tie rods, ball joints, and knuckles would also have an impact.

Outside of the steering system itself, poly bushings, suspension set up and alignment would also have a role to play.

My current setup is the following : Energy suspension Poly bushings, Tein flex coilovers, stock sway bars, Stock PS rack (in good condition by my knowledge), 205,55,16 tires at 32 PSI, alignment is -2deg of camber all round with 0.1deg of toe both front and rear. Caster is 4.7deg

feel free to flame but there were all of three threads dedicated to steering response and to many to count about Ps vs manual racks. I'm hoping that this thread could offer some useful insight for other forum members as well, Cheers!
