steering rack bushings

is there any companys that make polyurethane steering rack bushings? or any bushings that harder than the stock 16yr old rubber?

What - are the old ones slipping?
Just shim them with an extra layer of rubber.
Maybe one or two layers of inner tube rubber.

Or you can do what I did when I rebuilt my rack- just apply a small bead of black RTV to the remnants of the bushing, at the inner edges...That rack shouldn't move at all with those big-*** clamps & bolts holding everything down...Mine were in pretty good shape, if yours are that shot, the RTV trick might not work, but any sheet rubber of the same thickness should work...

hey guys, i get the grave digger award.

i upgraded to a manual rack, does any know where i can get manual steering rack bushings? thanks a ton, i really appreciate the help. I just cant seem to find these online anywhere.

Try Mazdatrix or the dealer.

It's not a Subaru, we don't have sloppy rack bushings. Stock is all you need. I've got practically telepathic steering on my car with a de-powered 15.2:1 rack (welded pinion) and 17's.
