Steering coulmn intermediate shaft differences

I was trying to track down a clunk in my steering when I noticed that when I held the steering rack shaft still and turned the wheel, there was movement in the intermediate shaft. I panicked and removed it, thinking my steering shaft was ready to fall apart, but once I had it on the bench, I realized that it seems like it's supposed to be like that?

Here's a quick clip showing what I mean: https://photos.app.goo.gl/3EFArkXXPqb9DAGZ7

I happened to have a spare, tested that one and there is ZERO movement. It also has a different number stamped on it, and the shape and length is slightly different

Is anyone able to explain the difference? I have the parts manual and it only lists one part. Maybe a later revision? Power steering vs manual?

Either way, I don't think this explains my clunk... I think I'm going to replace both inner tie rods
