steering causes rpms to drop?

I noticed today at an intersection that, when I turn my steering wheel left or right away from center, my RPMS will drop off a bit. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Yes, more load, idle drops, BAC compensates, idle bumps up.
