Thumbs up Status of my 7

Hey Guys,

This is for everbody that said "Keep Us Posted" when I posted way back (wow atleast a month ago...)

Things started slow, but with tons and tons of help from John things are progressing... The engine that came in the car was bad, ate a seal on the rear rotor. But... Got a new engine tuesday night (new to me) from John. When I went to help him pull it, he had started removing things, but had stopped so that I could hear it run before we pulled it. Well he started it up for me and rev'd it. And when I heard it I thought to myself (remeber I have never heard one of these thigns rev before) "Holy crap... That is awesome"

So I pulled the old engine, I left the tranny in the car, only because I didn't have a leveler just a hoist. Both engines are sitting on the concrete wrapped in plastic. The (forgive my lack of Rx7 lingo) valves that open up the secondary ports are frozen on the new engines intake. So I will either free them up, or swap intakes with the old one. Also while I have the intake off I am going to change the pulsation dampner.

John recommended I do both of these things, I am glad he did because the valves are frozen and I would have installed it as is if he hadn't mentioned it.

So, list of stuff to do....

Finish fixing intake
Replace Pulsation Dampner
Install new engine
Fix power Steering leak (or go to manual)
Replace all suspension bushings (they are all shot)
Replace suspension
Make the cats "high flow"
New Tires
Replace Shift Bushing
New Drivers Seat
Give the brakes a good one over

I would like to do away with the air pump and put on a banzai toyota Special pulley. But that isn't a huge thing to do post install so I think it will wait.

So we are atleast moving forwards now, I have already passed my budget, I am not keeping track anymore, I am just not getting anything unless I need it (or John says I do) I think I will still stay under about $1200. My time estimate is 2 weeks, but follow murphys law x3 puts the car on the road in 6 weeks. I will post some pics as I progress (if I can get my hands on a digy cam).

Oh John btw.. You are the man!

Joey
