How do you know your plugs and coils are fine if you are getting "...no spark"? Provide a bit more background info, like what mods have been done to the car, what are you currently working on, when did you last start the car, is it an NA or Turbo, and so on.

Otherwise, work through the troublshooting matrix in the factory service manual. If you don't have a copy go here:

Alright im going to give more details now.

I have a 1987 Rx-7 with a N/A 13b with no mods to it. its a complete stock engine.
about a month ago my car overheated cuz of a bad thermostat and had to have it towed home. I recently bought a new thermostat, housing and overflow cap. the first time i started up the car the car ran fine just smoked a little then went away. later that day when i tried starting it again it wouldn't it would just crank. i left it for a while not trying to flood it.
Then again recently i tried to see if i could start it up again. when i try to start it, it acts like its trying to spark but nothing. I've checked my spark plugs there still new so i cleaned the carbon off of them. I checked my wires to see if they were damaged and nothing. as for my coils i have not checked them.

anyone have any ideas why it wont start?

These engines are very sensitive to overheating. Overheating one can often be fatal. Before you spend any more time tracking down spark and fuel problems, do a proper compression test. No sense going any further if you have very low or no compression in any of the rotor faces. In that case, an engine rebuild or replacement will be required.

If compression is reasonable, then it's time to do the basic troubleshooting procedures. That is, verify that the injectors are spraying fuel and verify that the plugs are firing. Use the factory service manual to help in doing this.

When the engine is turning over when you go to start, does the tach needle make small movements up/down??? If it does, then you do have spark.
