Starting problem. No start with starter soleniod clicking

I just did a flywheel, and clutch on my car.. i went to start the car today and nothing.. the starter soleniod clicks once to activate. i put a charger on the battery and that doesnt help. i checked the terminals. i double checked all the connections and nothing.. my buddy jumped the starter and it spin but didnt sound like the armature was kicking the gear out. The starter worked before i took it out.

when i was doing the tranny i asked about where to put some wires. i put the "capacitor" that connects to the harness on the top of the connections area on the starter to the slave cylinder.. i put the thicker cable to the long tranny bolt. and the white harness bolted to the top of the bell housing to the slide terminal right under the wiper motor. i need some help . i cant figuire out what to do next.. im pretty sure it a wiring problem.

After trying to crank it for a few seconds, feel the primary wires & conectors for a hot spot indicating a weak connection.

when i was under the car last time . i was getting juice from the i believe it was the left hand terminal (if laying under the car looking to the front. i tried grounding out the rest, no luck. i tried grounding out the capacitor that is mounted to the slave cylinder. so luck .. im pretty sure the starter works.. i mean it did before i took the tranny down ..

The ground on the clutch is just a noise filter.
The primary cables (+ & -) from the battery to the starter are the likely culprits.
The crimped on terminals can corrode inside or under the nearby wire insulation.
If so, they will get warm when trying to crank.

Check the voltage drop at the battery when cranking.
The battery may be failing.

Check the voltage from battery (-) to the alternator frame when cranking.
It should be near zero.
A weak ground will show voltage there.
