Starting Problem (kinda long)
Starting Problem (kinda long)
I have an '88 vert that has been sitting since April. Finally got it back together the other day and it wouldn't start.
It'll crank forever without turning over, no sputter or hiccup or anything that hints at it starting up. It's definitly getting spark. I wanted to check the plugs to see if it was flooding, but I didn't have a deep socket (getting one tomorrow).
I took off the plastic intake piping and could not smell any gas fumes so I tried a little bit of starting fluid. Well, after that it would turn over, but instantly die. I tried it a couple of times and still the same thing. Whipped out the fuel pressure gauge and checked the hose coming from the fuel filter, it has the correct amount of pressure.
So are my injectors not firing or something? What controls them (ECU, and/or other sensors?)? Any other thoughts?
Edit: Oh yeah, and the engine has about 1,700 miles on it.
