starting issue just wondering if this happened to anyone else

OK i was driving my T2 and i was going to my dads house to visit and turned off the car. i was there for like 10 mins and my wife called me and i had to run home. but the FC didn't want to start! i turned the key over and over again and nothing i let it sit for 5 mins more and nothing. but i had to leave so i did the bad thing. i put the car in rev. and my brother pushed it and i let out the clutch and it started. i got home took care of what i had to take care of and then i went out to make sure everything was ok and it started i took it for a quick drive about 10 miles came home and it was fine. what do you think it could of been?

Well you can generally start the vehicle in first gear as well, as I have done many a time pullign out of the driveway just to save my poor battery. But since I do not currently own a turbo car I am unsure what the spark meant

fuel ignited. It happens when you flood. its a good way to blow up ****. Im suprised you could start a flooded car that way. have you ever flooded a 2nd gen car? I usualy involves a process that isnt that easy. people usualy get a cut off switch....

I dont mean to hog but when that happened to me I got new plug wires, new plugs. My second step was to not start the car then shut it off. third step get a cut off switch in case an injector is leaky. last choice you dont want to hear. New injectors. I have not done the lasts step and I hope not to. boy its been a long time since Ive flooded my car. Its a problem for those cars some times

yeah ive had my car flood plenty of times, fuel switch was installed by lst owner and works right..though oddly enough the newer motor doesnt flood and its using the same injectors as the last motor, though i cant test any theory's as Mr. Landers has it for minor repairs.(read huge problem with front cover)

Thats normal, though if IIRC the S5's have a built in fuel switch that helsp for flooding when you push the pedal to the floor during start up.

The right way....I would search for the correct way to do it, though the ways I have done it were to flip teh cut off switch and let the motor turn until it fired up, then flip the switch back on and wait till it fired up fully. I am unsure with the S5's right now as I only have my S4 runnign for the most part, the S5 is sitting and awaiting some needed attention.

Fix the problem causing the flooding and you won't have to worry about it.

There's a few ways to help flooding... I'm sure if u search the threads ull find some way to do it but ill just restate them here. All these methods helped me in someway but I'm going to install a fuel cut off switch tomorrow and see if that helps. But i've had the same problem with my car, wen i first got it the engine was flooded out the ***. Had a hard time starting it and stuff but i learned a few things off this site so :-) ok here i go

1) Check your spark plugs and wires... That was the first thing I did to my car, the trailing plugs were dirty as hell, so I replaced them and it starts up clean everytime now. I also did an engine ground. Which helped out alot. my voltage went form 12 to nearly 14-15.

2) if that doesnt solve the problem I suggest installing a fuel cut switch. It's very simple to install and it will do wonders... You can prolly find a tutorial on this site or you can go to www.iluvmyrx7.com and look at the how to's section.

3) this is a temporay method of unflooding, its not a fix but if your in a hurry to get somewhere and dont have time to waste this is what you should do. Go under the hood and locate the EGI fuse. for some cars its called EGI COMP, take it out. Go back into your car and crank for about 15-20 seconds. Put back the fuse and crank. If it doesnt start repeat the process until it does.

Hope I could be of help

it helps but this has never happened before i ran the car kind of hard and then i guess i didn't let it sit long enought to get the turbo to idle down right but it has not happened ever again so i think it is just a fluke

dude you should follow the recomendations for cooling your turbo even if you are just finishing a drive on the highway. I hate to see you need a repair.
