starter question
starter question
are the 88 turbo and n/a starters the same?
i just got done with a conversion to 88t2 tranny and stuck an n/a starter in it. bolted up fine. struggled to start it every time, but i thought it might be a starter problem since it was used and it was the only one available at the time.
now the starter is dead and im wondering if it might be because it wasnt compatible with the 88t2 tranny.
help...
btw this was all done on a 90gxl

No they are not the same on manual tranny versions,
However I have been told that the NA auto starter is the same as the T2 starter... but weither or not that is true, I can't tell you.

im a starter newb here. is the starter tranny dependant or is it engine dependant? im guessing it would be tranny dependant but im not usre. can someone snwer that for me?
I did the auto - T2 5 speed conversion. The automatic starter and the T2 starter are not the same. The T2 starter has a longer nose. I have swapped out the starter motors with no apparent difficulty.
