Starter problems

I've searched, but nothing seemed to peg down my problem.

What would cause my engine to just suddenly cease to start?
Last night i was out driving around rather 'sprinted' and then i had to make an emergency stop due to a unseen parked car.. Locked up my brakes, and i think i stalled the engine, but not 100% on that, needless to say, momentum kept me going for about another 30 feet and i was able to park it in front of the parked car.

After doing a thorough shake down of the engine bay, looking for any possible problems, i'm left with nothing, so i assume its the starter. When i went to turn the key over to crank it, i got nothing at all. So i swap starter's at 4:00am on the side of the road with it up on jackstands. Go to connect the battery, and bam, instant mini electrical fire coming from the starter area.. so i'm assuming crossed lines..
everything went on as it came off.. one cable to the nut on the end of the starter, black clip to the one prong sticking out, and then another black cable with an o-ring connector on the end with the long bolt that mounts the starter through it (main engine ground)
battery disconnected

I need some serious help here. Any knowledgable imput is very welcomed.

Any help would be great.

i've now changed: starter, coil-packs, ECU, boost sensor, ignition switch.
I've tried push starting, jump starting.
All with the big end result of Nothing.
i'm dying here..
