Starter Motors

I have a 1987 base model (standard transmission) and a 1988 GXL (automatic transmission). Are the starter motors interchangeable?

Thanks for any help.

No they are Not.the N/A has a different set-up in Gear teeth/Ratio..BUT if the Car was TII and you were switching in a AUTO Starter,From what I read they are compatible..So that means No TII or Auto starter should be used on a Stock N/A.

Thank You

Thanks for answering my question. It wasn't the answer I wanted, but at least I have an answer.
