start and idle problem
one day like usual i drove to work took my lunch drove back to work then at the end of the day i came out to start my 88 rx-7 SE(non turbo) and it started like usual then the rpm's came down pretty quick and the car shut off. it would still start but would not idle and had almost no power when driven. i was told by a friend that it might be an apex seal but i was told by others that it would blow out smoke if the apex seal went bad and it would just go bad all of a sudden. PLEASE give me some input, i have fuel pressure, fuel incoming but no fuel coming from my return line AT all. i have good spark from both coils. i will be doing a compression test shortly. Any other things i could check?????wish me luck and thanks.

With the fuel pump running , you have no fuel coming out the RETURN line at the engine when you remove the rubber hose? Fuel pumps don't run just by putting the key to ON.

All my vacumm lines are good, MAF sensor and Thermo are good as well. I know my fuel pump prims my system when in the ON position but it continues to run as if it will not hold pressure with no fuel coming from the return hose when removed. Checked my compression and on the front cylinder i have 55 psi on all bounces(which is good)but on the rear i have ZERO, no pressure at all. My guess is rear side seal due to having compression in one but not the other. When checking my plugs i found oil on them and when removing the compression tester front and back give me oil as well. Would'nt i have little compression all around if it was the apex seal?anybody know the best place to get replacement side seals? I have since removed just about all component to either replace my side seal or do a motor swap, thinking about going the 350 small block way or maybe 5.0 swap. although ive never done any work on a rotory before as this is my first im leaning toward just replacing my side seal to save money(i will NEVER get rid of this car so i need to do something)any tips would be very much appreciated.
thanks for the input

Granny's Speed Shop is the ONLY place to go to check out some super nice Bolt In swap kits. Will allow you to bolt in anything from a 2.3l Turbo Ford motor to a Small block ford. If you can dream it, they probably already have a kit for it.
