Squeaking Clutch

I got a '88 N/A. When I let off the clutch, there is sometimes a really quiet squeak coming from underneath the car about where the clutch pedal is located. It happens sporadically, and only when I'm totally off the clutch. As soon as I press it at all the sound leaves and comes back when I get back on.

Any ideas?
I'm hoping something just needs some lubricating....

Thanks
Nima

Crawl under the dash and tighten the clutch linkage, it sounds like something had worked itself loose. Then, since you are already down there, spray all the pedal pivot points and linkage. I use white lithium spray, it seems to work well.

Sometimes at the clutch slave cyl attachment rod as well, try using some white grease on the linkage there.

squeaking clutch

Is it a squeak or more like a rattle? Happen only when at running temperature?

If it is more like a rattle and only when warm - then it is the throw-out bearing assembly. Make sure you only use gem. Mazda parts. I had a lot of trouble getting it fixed until I went to OEM.
