looking good as always Aaron, love the attn. to detail.
I don't know if there will ever be a very detailed writeup but it will certainly be covered in an update thread. No, I absolutely won't be using a window washer pump. The pump is actually what is holding me up as it is very difficult to find a small and cheap pump which is properly rated to handle oil.

What about adapting an electric fuel pump? Or maybe converting a mechanical oil pump to run off an electric motor (mind you, I think the RPM for an oil pump could be prohibitively high)?

question about the front cover mods. I see that you removed the drove gear and shaft, now is that completely nessisary? I am blocking off the mop on my s5 t2 front cover and am curious if i should do my block off as in depth as you did. Now if i don't remove the gear and shaft will i have to install those grub screws or would that be a bad idea due to the fact that the shaft could seize? btw love the updates, this car and all the info that you have given to this community is the reason why i'm doing a s5 6 port turbo.

As soon as I saw that, I hit eBay and started looking at motorcycle fuel pumps. That's a great idea, and I assume any pump that can handle being immersed in gasoline has no issues with oil.

You can just leave the shaft in place and use a regular blockoff plate. I only did this just because I already had the front cover off.

If you leave the shaft in place but block off the passage with grub screws, it will indeed seize the shaft after short order. So it's all or nothing when removing the shaft and blocking off the passage.

Ah, I wished I had seen this thread sooner before you painted the subframe!

When my diff mount bracket broke, it did not break at the places where you welded. It broke where that "two-holed washer" seats up against the little tab with the lip. The base of that tab at the slots tore right out. As a repair and lesson-learned fix, I fabricated a new bracket out of 3/16" plates with a stronger "tab".

If you have good rear diff bushings then you should be fine with what you have. I had worn bushings so the forces at the nose of the diff was enough to overwhelm the front mount and tear off the mount "tab".

I have always loved this project, and it just gets better and better... I love the attention to detail, and the lack of fear for trying totally new things.

You inspire many builders Aaron. I saw your 2010 update and was filled with joy. I have built more 6 port turbo setups then any other car, for others and myself. I have not even seen a Turbo II in person. Checking out your website years back when it was fresh made me realize the potential of my 6 port.
Now my 6p turbo is long gone and I am building a Twin turbo LSx (FC) running megasquirt. The only RX-7s I work on are 6 port turbos and I do it daily and make a living off from it, all because of you.

I enjoy your build, keep up the good work.

Thank you much
Chris Stewart

Well ****, I didn't even think of that area. What I do was run a weld bead along the inside of that mounting flange, which ended up rather high on the two hole vertical piece. I suspect that added quite a bit of strength but obviously not as much as a 3/16" plate.

I do have new differential and subframe bushings, but I forgot to install a pinion snubber.

That sounds like a hell of a project. Do you have a build thread?

I've done so much work to the car since this thread was made that it will likely be on the road this weekend. Another thread will be coming soon.

Seriously, I remember when this was just a shack of a car, with you just saying things you wanted to do. (you start to get into a groove of blowing off what people say unless they do it.)

It makes me realize how much I've missed by not being on the forums, and I regret it. I should have stuck around all those years even when I didn't have a 7.
You really have come a long way, cake boy. I know you dont know who I am, but I look back and im proud of all this work youve done.

(your intake manifold, did you put design into it? what did you come up with, to design it the way it is?)

I'm up for that. But Sam and I are also discussing a meet in London sometime soon.

Ha, yeah. I do the same thing until someone can show me proof they are taking action instead of talking. Mainly because after so many years, hearing all the arm-chair modding and then seeing nothing to show from it just becomes disheartening.

I remember the first RX-7 meet I attended sometime in early 2001. We were sitting around having a few drinks, talking about modding. I mentioned how in the fall I'd be starting to turbo my NA and it was clear no one took it seriously, and I was even told that it "Couldn't be done". Meh, not faulting them though, because they didn't know me from any other weirdo off the street. I did show up to the first meet the next spring with a turbo-NA running 12 PSI though.

It makes me realize how much I've missed by not being on the forums, and I regret it. I should have stuck around all those years even when I didn't have a 7.
This is the best forum around, hands down. It is awesome to follow people's builds and look at all the good work being done.

You really have come a long way, cake boy. I know you dont know who I am, but I look back and im proud of all this work youve done.
That was creepy enough that I used my admin powers to look you up. I don't know anyone off hand where you live.

There does come a time when a transmission upgrade is needed...

My intake manifold is covered here:
http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/projec...an112006-1.htm

But that is only the physical construction. How I came up with runner lengths, diameters, plenum size, etc. is written on a scrap piece of paper somewhere in my basement. Basically, I just got the equations by hitting the library and grabbing a few books, and Googling for it. As long as you know CFMs and a few other engine characteristics, the basics of it aren't that hard. I only did the very minimal amount of math to come up with my design and it has worked splendidly.

Once the car is back on the road. However, the eliminators are not the only suspension mod taking place. I've replaced all the bushings, links, hardware, etc.

No problem. The stalking doesn't bother me anyway, since I already have a load of stalkers.

Well, then you should probably have mentioned that I used the word "TIG" inappropriately as well and should have said "GTAW".

Your teacher needs to chill out a little. The entire industry refers to these processes by their common names; MIG, TIG, stick/arc, gas, etc. As long as a person knows the proper technical name, then they are free to use the common name in normal conversation.

Maybe your teacher liked the sound of his own voice a little too much? I had a few of those back in my school days.
