split air and port air valves?

Today I was checking the aux ports and the rear moved freely by hand but I couldnt get the front to open but it may be cuz I think my fat hand couldn't get a hold good enough. But I noticed a wire that was crispy and the other was completely burnt off. The burnt off one was the one closest to the front of the car. So what is goin on with them not being hooked up. Just the aux ports not functioning? I can't replace them right now so should I just open the aux ports til i can?

What year fc? The aux ports run off of an air source not electrical.

My bad 88 gxl. Ok if they work off the air source, then what happens when they are disconected? Anything? Do they control the secondary injecters? How do the secondary injecters work? Also if one aux port is stuck is there any negative affect with only 1 working or do they both stop working.

The secondary injectors are controlled by the ecu, when the aux ports are disconnected the car either loses low end or top end depending if they are locked in the open or closed position.

So if the ports are working normal nothing is being affected by the split air and port air valve being disconected.

The split air solenoid directs additional air to the main cat (via the split air pipe) in 5th gear only.

The port air solenoid directs a little extra air to the exhaust ports, but it's pitiful compared to the main port air path.

You don't need either to pass an emissions sniffer test, but you could fail a visual inspection if they're missing or disconnected.

Your SERIES FOUR 88 cars auxillary ports are run off exhauust back pressure and that source of exhaust air is take off the split air pipe.

Any part of that you don't understand? Then write back. OR look at the FSM.

No part of the ACV is related to the auxillary port actuators.

Yeah I knew the aux ports are ran by exhaust back preasure I was thinking that the valves somehow routed the preasure to allow them to function. I was looking online at the fsm and made the mistake of thinking secondary air injection was part of the aux port. I just asked cuz I didnt have my haynes manual and was about an hour from home and was like crap I hope this isn't vital to running the car. Again thanks for the reply.
