Split air pipe issue?

Split air pipe issues?
I was driving the other day and I noticed that my split air pipe in the exhaust system fell out due to rust/old-age. At that point, when I restarted the car it was really rough, however after a few seconds 10-15 seconds, the car idles smoothly and runs excellent.

So I got the split air pipe welded to the converter to alleviate the issue, but to no avail. When I turn on the car from a cold start, the car idles really roughly and there is some shaking of the car. Like before, after a few seconds of rough idle, the car normalizes and idles smoothly after.

It seems that the problem only persists during cold starts, but when the car is warm the car has no issues with a rough idle.

Any thoughts? The entire exhaust system is stock as well as the rest of the car. 1990 Mazda Rx7 N/A GX model.

Thanks guys.

The split air pipe being disconnected from the exhaust won't cause your car to idle rough while cold... so check around everywhere and look for anything disconnected out of place.. check for vacuum leaks, etc etc... Basics.
