speedometer/power steering messed up

87' N/A w/ ford 302 and T5Z tranny.

So i pulled the tranny to put a bolt back in that had worked its way out, and some how the speedometer is f'ed up. The speedo reads nothing, but i don't know what i could have messed up, its just the little key at the end of the cable that goes into the tranny port. The other thing is the power steering is usually variable, but now isn't, so I assume that it is because the speedo is not getting a reading. Furthermore, when first start the car, its full power steering no mater what speed i go, then about 5 minutes later it switches over and has NO power steering at all and continues that way until i turn the car off.

idea's?

The power steering computer needs the speed signal from the speedometer to work correctly.

To troubleshoot, you either have a disconnected speedo, a disconnected or bad speedo cable. it is pretty much just one of those two.

What sort of output does the tranny you are using put out?

And you probably should be posting this in the other engine conversions section of the board as since you don't have a rotary engine or stock tranny, there is not much that anyone in the 2nd gen technical section can help with.
