Speedometer cable quick question

My speedometer cable came loose from my tranny. I didn't realize until the end of my 40 mile commute. When I looked under the car, the remains of my speedometer cable were dangling there. The metal portion that screws into the tranny has been filed down to a nub. Does a new speedometer cable come complete with all parts needed or just the interior cable?
