Speedometer Cable Question
Mine fell out of the tranny. I plugged it back in (went in fine) but it still doesn't work. I'm assuming something broke when it fell out and dragged on the ground. Does this mean I should buy a new cable all together or do I need to buy the gear thing people talk about? I'm not sure after searching.

the cable may have broken.
Take the cable out (remove cable from tranny, pull the little wire out of the cable. One eind will be flat boxy looking thing. This is the end that goes to the speedo gear. If you pull it out and the speedo end isn't boxy(squared), then the cable broke someplace.
Otherwise:
Get some lithium (I used lithium red high impact, doesn't really matter) grease, and lube that baby up and slip it right back into the cable. Use PLENTY of grease.
Once you have it all the way back into the cable, hookup the wire back up to the spinny gear inside of the tranny.
If all went ok, *VERY* (and I mean VERY) slowly accelerate to about 3-4 mph (just enough to register). If all worked ok, the box end of the wire will catch and slip right into the speedo gauge drive box.
On the other hand if you were to just drop the clutch, you'ld probably twise the hell out of it something.
have fun lubing up that wire
