Arrow speedo problem

so as i cruise at like 50mph the speedo will jump to like 60 then it will go down any ideas what it could be its a 91 convertible 5sp

The inner part of the speed cable is not fully inserted into the speedometer gauge at the back or not fully inserted into the other end of the cable at the transmission. Fully insert same and drive again.

It could also be breaking, these cars speedo cables tend to break at the trans side.
