speed = 0!!!!

My speedometer just stopped working today. The odometer doesn't spin, my speed is zero. It had been making noises and going up to 140km/h on its own initiative (rather than that of my foot) and it shook violently when the car wan't warmed up and I went above 60km/h.

Anyone know if I gotta change the whole cluster or just my speedometer cable? I think this can be a expensive repair, no? ****!

Thanks

Most likely speedo cable - about $50 from the Mazda dealer.

Could be the speedo itself too, or just the cable. Either way I have them in stock i you need one. The speedo is removeable fromt eh rest of the cluster btw, and Ive been told you can swap odometers withing hte speedo to keep your original mileage, but I cannot confirm this. IF you'd like to check on parts email me hypntyz@charter.net

Nima-taba,

Kilometers per hour went out of style in the 80's or something. So you really never had any "speed" anyway. That's a good thing because this "metric" system is totally dangerous stuff. It cost NASA like 300 million dollars when they sent this "probe" to mars.

Which is kinda strange too because I bought 1/16 through 1-3/4 sockets for eveything I needed on my Mazda. And whoa!?! I mean: Dude, Man!?! These Mazda Bolts are really freaking weird. Every time I wanna just unbolt or tighten something, I have to hit the socket wrench with a hammer until it's tight on the bolt.

Totally weirded out ****.
