your speedo no longer works?

BTW How the hell did you loose your speedo cable??

It goes from your tranny up your engine bay an dinto the back of your cluster.

I jsut fixed mine yester day after going throuh everything.

It turned out that the gear in the trany was shreded.

if you suspect its the cable, take one end of the inner cable, and turn it and make sure it still turns on the other side, if not replace.

Other than that I'd check the gear in the trany.
Becarefull when you remove it tranny luid will come out unless you raise the car from the back.

also make SURE its in all the way at both ends.

well i lost it because the part that connects to the tranny fell off on the highway and it just got pulled out.. both ends seem to be all the way in however i did not take out the speedo housing or gear. i don't think part of the cable goes all the way into the gear. what i'm going to try is to get the outer cable that i got the inner one from it seemed to fit fine to both ends so what i'm thinking is they are a matched set, you have to have both not one or the other. when you bought yours did it have the outer and inner cables together?

Yess the outer is jsut a cover. Sorta like bicycle brakes, the real cable is on the inside.

The speedo cables are all the same length. You just need to either take more up toward teh front of the car, so thast there's slack up ther einstead of back byt eh tranny, where it can get caught on stuff.

I dont even remove the gage cluster...I just reach up in there fromt eh floorboard(on back arm by gas pedal) adn unclip it, feed the new one through from outside, and reach back up in there and clip it on. WHen you installt he end on the tranny, to be sure it sits int eh square slot int eh cluster peoperly, I always turn the cable just a bit before connecting it to the tranny.
