spedo cable??
spedo cable??
i know there is a spedo cable, but there isnt one on my car. the FSM lists that there is one but there was no cable when i removed the trans or a obvious location for it to come from. so since i know that there is one, where and how is it routed and how hard is it to replace? and i found it to order from mazdatrix, does any other site have them?
please nothing stupid if you dont know dont post any response. i do know what the cable looks like and it wasnt there.
pics of the routing, where it comes from and where it goes would be nice.
Thanks
Jason
(sorry about the crappy wording but its late and ive been working on it all day)

I take it that your speedometer doesn't work. You can get the cable from Autozon. Advance, NAPA, or similar for about $20.
It's fairly easy to install. It screws into the transmission on the left rear side. Route it up to the firewall on the drivers side, and you should see a rubber grommet (about 1-1/2" diameter) somewhere in the vicinity of below your master cylinder (but not directly under it). It goes through the grommet into the interior space behind your dash.
You'll have to pull your instrument binnacle, forward, which is about 5 screws, IIRC, and the cable then snaps into the back of the speedometer. I think it is easier to put the speedometer end in first, then the transmission end, because you need a little slack to aid snapping it into the speedometer.
It's been awhile since I've done this, and I may have oversimplified a bit, but it is a fairly simple job to accomplish. By the way, I didn't check your profile, but my info is specific to the manual transmission. I assume the automatic would be similar.
