"Sparking" Noise Under Hood

I have no clue what this noise is...bit I *think* it's coming from under the hood.

1.) Only makes noise when I accelerate.
2.) Sounds like a sparking noise, also like some loose sheet metal is viberating and tapping on something.

I can't locate anything that is loose, that could make this noise.

Anyone have any idea what this could be? Anyone hear this before?

Probably worn plug wires.

What is detonation?
Preignition, pinging, etc. Do a search for more info. Happens when the flamefront in the combustion cycle explodes from several different places at once instead of spreading evenly from the spark plug. The stresses this places on the engine are huge, and will easily crack or break apex seals if it is severe enough.

I am currently having the same problem. I fixed it last time (in October) by switching to a different brand of gas.

This time I tried a different Brand, a mid grade octane gas. I've tried also added a Gas Drier (in case it was moisture in the fuel). My plugs and wires are new. The car runs fine otherwise.

I have a similar car - 1988 GXL with 55,000 miles and no mods.
