CA Spark Plugs question

I went to Kragens the other day and bought 4 spark plugs only to be a little dumbfounded by a question:

"Did you need the leading or trailing?"

Being mechanically challenged, I had no clue so I took a guess on what he was saying and bought 2 of each.

If I'm standing on the leftside of the car, looking at the spark plugs, there are 4 located as shown:

< . . |
< . . |

< = front of the car and | being the front of my dashboards.

Are the ones closer to the < leading and are the ones closer to | trailing? I just didn't want to get mixed up since I'm mechanically challenged and don't know much. Thanks for the help!

2 of each. front two are top-trailing, bottom-leading. Just think trailing top and leading lower and the front two are #1 rotor.

The T and L should be stamped on the housings by the plug holes anyways. Might have to clean it some to see it.
