What do you mean... they are the same size as the leading plugs are.

What are we talking about here? Is it something other than the hole the actual spark plug threads into or what? I just measured the leading and trailing spark plugs at the threads and they are both .543 inches in diameter. Maybe I am not understanding what is being asked...

The trailing hole INSIDE the rotor housing is only a few MM accross.

To be honest, I have no idea why...But consider that the function of the trailing plug is to simply "clean up" after the leading fires.

yes he is right the leading hole is about 1/2inch and the
trailing hole is about 1/4inch. i have ondered this myself while looking at one of the rotor housings i have in my room. I would say it has to due with the amount of use the trailing plug is used, but that wouldn't
really mean it would have a smaller hole. i am going to look in some of my mazda books and see if i cant find
out why. lates matt22

reason I ask is because a member on Teamfc3s is going to cut a slice horizontal i belive to allow more spark (using thinking caps) for a better ignition. This is his thought. And then that brought me to this question.

if anyone finds out anything let me know

thanks

It's because you lose too much compression, cause the rotor "hits" the trailing spark plug (hole) first.

Mazda has messed with the trailing spark plug hole, and making it bigger actually loses power due to the loss of compression.  Don't even think about making it larger - Mazda done it's homework to make it smaller for a reason.

Do a search, and you'll find a recent thread in another forum section.
