its my friends car, it happened when he was driving and tried to stop at a light. the car just died, so he attempt to start it back on again, the rmp-meter is jumping up and down. so he decided to wait till i get there, i popped the hood and have him crank the car, it starts but theres sparks coming out of the alternator and the check engine light is on, the rmp gauge is also going crazy

at this point i m just wondering have anyone experience anything like this b4.
it's just too late at night ... i'll try to pull code for the check engine light tmr

holy ****, sparks coming out of the alternator? thats pretty serious, I've never heard of that happening before...

I can't see it being that the harness is shorting out somewhere and overloading the system, cause thats what fuseboxes are for... that is unless he filled the fuses with pieces of metal..

 

^like he said a short.........lol that sucks.

 

sounds like the alternator went fubar..

i'd pull it off the car, take it to shop, see if they can test it, and most likely either re-build, or replace it...

 

i havent seen/heard stuff like this thats why i post on the forum
his car is basically bone stock with nothing aftermarket on it at all....
i have drove it before and i dont remember anything weird about the car other than it idles at 1500 ... um ... well also if the A/C is on it kills the car sometimes at a stop
but as far as i remember it sees pretty healthy / normal voltage

 

blown brushes on the alt, replace the alt
