Sound deadening Removal..?

I was wondering how you remove the sound deadening stuff underneath the carpet, (im doing some weight reduction on my car)
I know you could peel it off, and scratch at it for hours, but I dont want to do that, ive heard of using dry ice as well, but i was wondering if there is any other methods...
Like that stuff the doctor uses to freeze warts of people and stuff, that spray stuff, if its accessable to the public, any help would be great!

Whatever you do, do NOT use any sort of liquid hydrocarbon to get it off... It gets very messy very quick.

I used frozen salt water blocks (just happened to have them in the freezer.. long storey.. )
and it came away in quite large chunks.
