Something is wrong.. PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, i finally got everything put back together (had to replace turbo, and ecu). Now when i try to start it up, it revs to about 3k, backfires, then dies. Whenever i step on the gas, it just dies quicker. There is also a smell of gas in the air.... what could be the problem? I thought i was running rich bc of the new ecu (remapped fuel curve) but when i hook the old ecu back in, it still does the same. Please help me, i am trying to get the car on the road by the end of the week.
Thanks

fried something with the new ECU? man, I all I can do is guess on this one...The ECU gives it the 3K start, then let's the thermo wax take over for the cold start idle, right? don't know why it's dropping dead on ya, though, sorry

its not the ecu bc it does the same thing with my stock ecu, and that is in perfect working condition

Check the AFM to see if it is loose and/or not plugged in.
