Something I figured I should ask about... (trailing coil)
I haven't checked my timing lately, but I noticed that whenever I used my timing gun (months ago) on my trailing coils, the gun never flashed in a consistent beat like the leading does. Also, one of the trailing leads doesn't seem to flash at all, which seems kind of strange to me...
I know a car will run fairly well without trailing ignition, but I was wondering if that was normal (I can't even find the trailing mark on the pulley because of it though), or if it's not normal, what sort of things would cause it?
Both leading leads on the other hand will flash just fine with my gun, although I had to set the timing several degress to advance to get the car to sound good and idle strongly enough.
However, since that's not really normal, I figure I need to find out what's wrong with it... I shouldn't have to use advanced timing to get it to run well.

It's normal.
The trailings are firing.
It's just that most inductive timing guns have a hard time picking up the trailing spark events.
Try and pull the spark plug boot off the coil tower slightly.
This will cause the coil to fire a wider gap.
This allows the timing gun to pick-up the signal a lot easier.
You'll see a lot more consistent spark from the trailings that way.
