Someone please tell me what my compression is in my motor

Well I am just plain too lazy and cheap to go to the dealer and have the test done. Frankly I really do not want to take my car to any place to have it serviced. SO I want all you techs to tell me what you think of my motor.

I installed a vaccum/boost guage (Autometer) and at idle of 800rpm I get a vaccum reading of 17 hg whatever, so I know my motor has the power to suck, haha.

Next my motor has a slight vibration between 1500-2000 rpms but very smooth everywhere else. It actually sounds like something is out of balance with the clutch/flywheel but it may be something like low compression in one rotor. what do you think.

Next, there seems to be low power after like 3500rpms. I know it is not the stupid 3800 rpm hesitation because there is no hesitation, car runs very smooth to redline. This may be related to the fact that my Precat blew up and crapped all this junk on my main cat, both of which I gutted yesterday but I cant test drive due to snow.

So what kind of numbers am I looking at on this original tII motor??

LOL, the only way to tell what your compression is, is to have it tested.

17" is a decent number, your engine isn't weak. 15 is weak, 20 is new. of course vac leaks will screw those up and only give you 10 or so even if compression is good.

So I guess I am doing pretty good considering I have only replaced about 1/2 of the old vac lines. Maybe I will work on doing some more, but some of them are very hard to get at without removing major components!
