WSUP FOLKS?! IM IN THE BRONX (NYC) AREA,AND IM LOOKIN FOR ANOTHER RX-7.MY 87 N/T IS UP FOR SALE FOR $1500 OR A DECENT TRADE.I GOTTA SELL MINE BECAUSE IT WONT START,I DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG W/IT.I HAD THE CLUTCH CHANGED AND THE TRANNY RECENTLY REBUILT.AFTER I HAD THE TRANNY REBUILTAND CLUTCH CHANGED MY IDLE WENT NUTTY AND STARTED BOUNCIN' WHEN IT WAS WARMIN' UP,IT WOULD BOUNCE FROM 1,200 TO ABOUT 1,800,IF I HELD THE CLUTCH IT WOULDNT BOUNCE.I HAD LEFT AND WENT TO GEORGIA FOR A WEEK,WHILE I WAS GONE THE CAR WASN'T STARTED,WHEN I CAME BACK I WENT AND STARTED THE CAR AND LEFT IT TO WARM UP.WELL WHEN I CAME BACK OUT 10 MINS. LATER THE CAR WAS DEAD AND WOULDNT RESTART,I GOT IT RUNNIN' THE NEXT DAY AND IT RAN REALLY WEAKLY FOR LIKE 2 MINS. THEN DIED WHEN I LET THE CLUTCH OUT,SINCE THAT DAY IT HASNT STARTED.I HAVE TRYED REPEATEDLY TO START IT,BUT IT WONT KICK OVER,WHEN I OPEN THE HOOD AND CHECK FOR LOOSE WHATEVERS I DONT FIND NETHING AND I SMELL GAS!! I REALLY DONT WANNA SELL MY BABY BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG W/IT AND IT WONT START TO GET IT TO MY MECHANIC. IT HAS PLENTY OF NEW PARTS LIKE~>COMPLETE NEW BRAKE SYSTEM$700,REBUILT TRANNY$600,NEW CLUTCH $350,NEW CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER$70,NEW TUNE UP$130,TINTED WINDOWS (20%)$150,SONY HEAD UNIT$150,4 NEW TIRES(80%NEW)$200,CARBON FIBRE RACING PEDALS$50,AND CARBON FIBRE SHIFT ****$25.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY TECH. ADVICE ON WHAT MY PROBLEM MIGHT BE,FEEL FREE TO PM ME,REPLY TO THIS ,WHATEVER JUST TELL ME WHAT U KNOW,ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

Yeah, chill on the typing.

But, you could try the ATF trick, and replace the spark plugs and wires. the $40 or whatever is worth a shot. Sounds like maybe you flooded your engine, so you're getting a bad spark/not being able to start. When I flooded my engine, I coudl really smell gas when I tried to start it. So try pullin your plugs and lettin them 'dry off', if that doesn't work, then do the ATF trick and replace the plugs. Please do not ask what the ATF trick is, instead do a search for it on these forums...theres more information on it than you probably want, and people will want to kill you if you post another thread about it.

What's your rotary mechanic saying? Idle can be a TPS problem, but your describing more of an alternator/electrical problem. If you jump it it won't stay running after the batter charges?

Well i got my new keyboard!! As far as takin it to my mechanic and what hes saying,he hasnt said anything because i cant get the car to him. i tried jumping it 2day and it stunk like gas when i opened the hodd.It turned good,almost kicked over,wanted to kick over but didnt.im gonna pull the plugs clean em,and do the flooded eng. trick. if that doesnt work,ill be back.

When you have the plugs out, remove the "EGI 30A" fuse from the fuse block in front of the drivers side strut under the hood. LEave all that out, and crank the car. Crank for 10-15 seconds at a time, then wait a few minutes. Do this process untill no more white smoke comes form the engine. What you are doing is unflooding it. I tried simply removing the EGI fuse, and that did not work, but if you pull the plugs as well, that might work. As for the poor start:Rotaries love to run, and hate to sit. When I had my new clutch in, it did not want to start either, because it had not been run for a week while they got arond to doing the job.

man i'm pissed, i went and bought a new battery w/550 cold cranking amps, pulled the plugs and the fuse, "dried" the plugs,unflooded the engine!!!! and the bitch still wont start!!! im about to give up on it. could it be a blown seal??
