someone have pics of the oil pressure sensor?

The gauge in my car doesnt work, so I'm assuming the wire is disconnected. After looking through the haynes manual and searching around here, the most I can figure out is that it should be somewhere near the oil filter. A picture of it should be would be very helpful (preferably with a large obvious arrow).

Thanks for the picture, but, is there any chance I wouldnt have one? Theres nothing in the area that looks like that. There is however and empty threaded hole right above one of the spark plugs. The guy I bought the car from did an n/a to turbo swap(jspec engine), so if its possilbe to leave it out Im sure the lazy bastard did. I'll try and get some pictures of it up tomorrow.

Do you have oil spurting out of that hole?

Otherwise, it's gotta be there or it's plugged.

That hole is where the knock sensor goes. The oil pressure sender is not on the rotor housing, it's on the end plate directly below the oil filter.

Not to pick on INCENDUI, but every one in a while I see one of these threads that wants a picture of the thigamajig or the watchamacallit and I want to write back for THEM to take the darn picture. Take a picture of the whole darn engine . Too lazy to download a fsm at http://www.fc3s.org or http://iluvmyrx7.com . Again, not a slam at incendui. Just a general gripe from grumpy.

Amen to that!
Go buy a Haynes manual too, it's got heaps of photos that are even better than the FSM's sketches.

Avoid the "extra guard". Its great to see someone change their oil frequently. But, if the filter comes out dry(notice how clean under the filter is). The antidrainback valve isn't working or he is a neat freak Thats one reason why I use the Mobil1(or other quality) filter. Its makes a 1/2 pint oil mess every time I change it. The Fram filter did not make that mess when cold(left overnight). But it seemed to spill enough when warm. I won't bitch if you use the Fram toughguard or purolator pureone-if available.

If you do change your oil&filter every 2.5 weeks, you are in a position to compare various filters. Let me know. Maybe we can get some forum members to donate filters, cutaway pics, time, bandwidth, experience with filter........ for the comparison.

Besides that hey are built like crap, can disolve and leave paper in your engine, have high restriction and most have a bad anti-flowback valve.

Damn good Info Icemark....funny how incendui asks for a picture of the oil pressure sending unit and this turns into a discussion on how bad the Fram oil filter is. Problem here is I normally buy the oil filter that's on base, and this is the only one that they have.

The thing that the arrow is pointing to...well mine doesn't have a wire coming out of it. Or a wiring harness or anything. I do have a wire hanging around down there. Will this mean there will be more involved in having my aftermarket oil press gauge installed?

I have never seen a Fram cause damage to an engine. I have never seen a Fram have problems with internal cardboard(looks like cardboard but ISN'T) end caps. If it was so bad, there would have been a class action lawsuit and Fram would be no more. The only problem that I have with Fram is that during winter cold starts, you watch and wait for the oil pressure to build up. On the rotary, it doesn't make noise either way. On a boinger, you get the clatter/knock/tick as you wait for the filter/passages... to fill with oil because it drained out overnight.

Just found this pic on another thread. You can clearly see the oil pressure sender on the rear plate under where the oil filter normally sits. It's wire clips onto the terminal sticking out of it.

Its kind of hard to see in this picture, but there doesnt seem to be any sensor that looks like that under my oil filter. theres a very small clip the yellow wires attaches to but other than that theres nothing there. any ideas?

Holy oil pressure sensor, Batman!!!!

Did it ever work?
Is it broken off(ezout screw extractor time)? Is there a plug in its place(remove and reinstall pressure sensor)?
Remove the hoses and take another pic.

Or, wipe off the 'invisible fluid'
