some smoke after new exhaust

I just installed a new set of Apexi N1 Dual catbacks, and I noticed some smoke spewing out of the cans after a while. Couldn't really tell if it was white or black (too dark at night), but I noticed it would really only happen after the car has been running for a while. Is it just residual stuff from the manufacturing process in the pipes that are burning off (much like after installing a new heater in house), or maybe it's a coincidence and something in the engine isn't right? The amount of smoke that comes out seems to be fairly constant (doesn't increase with engine speed), but it does smells like burning oil.

If you had a cat on it then took it off,the Smell is normal. My car Stinks, like Pungent Fuel.it's the exhaust since it is not being Filtered anymore by Anything.Your Odor may lie in the New Exhaust getting Broken in.The Steel being Tempered by Heat, and the exahust combined with that.If the exhaust has smoke then it may be either the break in,or you are running the car to Rich, since now the exhaust allows the car to breathe more freely. If you can check AFR then see what it is at.

I would think that any leftover manufacturing residue would burn off after a day or so (at most).

How many miles on the new exhaust?

I'd say roughly 30 miles by now. The smoke has thinned down, but theres still this strange burning smell...not pungent, but not something I would want to breathe in every time the top is down.

Did you install new exhaust gaskets?
Those tend to give off an odd smell as they get burned in.
I can't imagine that being very strong though...

Yea, new gaskets are on. The smell is pretty noticeable once I step out of the car though.
