Some Reliability Questions (all out)
hey guys ive been on the forums for a while now... i recently purcahsed a 1988 TurboII about 6 months ago, blew the coolant seal (overheated) due to a heater hose broke.. neways i took out the motor and ready to get rebuilt, question is now dad is ragging on my *** because he says our motor cant last anymore than 6 to 8 months. I know about this other post someone posted about daily driving realiability having to fix minor things everywhere... Well i plan to replace all hoses.. freshly rebuilt motor, upgrade turbo,FMIC i do alot of racing and this is also my daily driver any ideas??? MPG does not bother me i love my car and having to pay $15 a day in gas is not a problem =) now heres exactly what im doing and you guys give me a heads up...
Freshly Rebuilt Motor
Brand Spanking new T04B turbo
SS oil cooler lines
FMIC
Try to do SS fuel lines

i do want to get
aluminum radiator (if anyone is selling one cheap pm me)

yep you need fuel control so at minimum get an FD fuel pump or walbro 255 (50-100bucks), and maybe some 720 injectors(depending how much boost you want to run) and an safc so you can add some extra fuel and then your car should be drivable for a while considing the rebuild was done properly and you adheire to the break in period which is very important on rotary cars.

Well, The fact that a rotary engine doesnt last long is a common misconception. Their reliability is somewhat stifled with big add-ons such as a big turbo, more fuel, etc. If you build them correctly (3mm seals, doweling, expensive coolant seals, not the cheapies, and corner clearancing.) there will not be a problem. Any motor when pushed beyond factory limits sacrifices a bit of reliability. over all, if your motor gets taken care of and you do not detonate, youll be fine for quite awhile. Adam at rx7 specialties has an 80,000 km warranty i believe.
good luck.
