some problems with my fc

hey guys, just recently my idle has been REALLY rough.. it would fluctuate between 300-600 rpm. its weird.. i don't know if its a vacuum leak or something more severe. The car also has been doing weird things at WOT. the car seems to be stuttering at high rpms and its making me worry cause it feels like something catastrophic is about to happen.. it would wind up, stutter, and at times back fire. any help is appreciated guys.. thanks!

Check spark plug wires

One time my car was acting horribly! Turned out one of the spark plug wires had loosened itself. This is really more of a bump, but a tuneup never hurts, so check your plugs and wires and see if they need replacement.

(Also, check any ignition parts that could be lose)

Have you noticed any lights dim, whipers slow or anything abnormal along with the RPM and back fire?

If yes:
It could be a loose ground. My car acted "ghostly". Random things would happen it was funny at first... Aaron cake has a great ground guide http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/grounding.htm

If No(only effects engine):
Still check it, its just a quick look and feel. Also if its not the spark check your Tps.
Here a site that was given to me http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=58&co=1&vi=1

I hope that helps!

My 86 did this same thing. I tested the fuel pressure and it was way low. I changed out my fuel pump with a high pressure pump and it cured the problem. Evidently at WOT it would lean out and start acting up with a back fire or two. LOL

personally I would test the TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) and adjust it to the spec provided in the Factory Service Manual.
