Some help
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place to post this topic. But anyways. I am currently driving a 1987 corolla gts coupe my first car, same age as me, some people might call it the ae86 from japan or initial D.
I am currently looking for an FC 2nd gen model turbo or non turbo. I know little bit about the 13B engine and the FC chasis. I just want to know a price range for a engine rebuild or swap, something like 200hp like from a stock nothing fancy upgrade rebuld or swap. the engines i see for sale are mostly around 1.5k-2k. How much would the labour fee to install that? And it is a very diffcult car to maintain right? more than my 19yr toyota?

Have you checked the FAQ? It will contain answers to most of your questions...
If you are doing a swap, figure $1500-$2500 for the entire TII drivetrain. If you are paying a mechanic to do it, 20 or so hours. Considerably less if you take it to a rotary shop.

Series 4 non turbos 86-88, are rated at 146HP; Series 5 non turbos 89-91 are rated at 160HP. Series 4 turbos come in at 182HP and series 5 turbos at 200HP. Stock. Modifications will add to this; freer flowing exhaust systems, porting and polishing.
The cars aren't really that hard to maintain. They are different and you need to know what the differences are. These forums are a great place to learn. My car is an 87 N/A and is my daily driver and its no more effort to keep on the road in top shape than any other car I've ever owned. But you do need to remember that these cars are 20 year old sports cars , so you should expect to pay closer attention to their care and keeping than you would a brand new car.

TII drivetrain is just the 13b turbo right? I mean, the FC chasis and suspension are all the same? for ....85-90. Yes i know how a 20yr car will run like. I have an 87 corolla.
