So, na=>t2... diff mount?

Ok, so I just my s5 t2 motor tranny and everything. Installed everything. I am looking for a driveshaft, but that isnt my question here. What I really want to know is what would happen if I weld the diff mount and everything together? B/c before I did this my diff mount was noticably bad, and I was planning on replacing it, I even bought a new mount already. But, my uncle and I had an arguement and he wont let me come in his shop anymore so I have no where to drop the rear assembly and the local shops are charging too much for this simple issue. Any ideas.

Somewhere on the forum there was talk about possibly cracking the diff housing if you welded the diff mount to make it solid. I personally would like to try this because I've ripped 3 of these damn things and hate replacing them. As far as doing this without a lift, it is possible but will take you 3x the time and energy.

Yea... I am gonna try and do it w/o a lift. I am gonna go out and buy another jack to try and make it easier... The last time that I changed the diff mount on a 7, I did in autoshop w/ a lift and it was a pain then. I really cant see myself doing it alone w/o a lift.... but I will see...

you could try to park somewhere that gives you extra clearance.....or if its easy for you dig a bit of a ditch in the ground or something. anything to get some more space to work with.
