So my car got broken into....

Well kinda ... Almost got in, typical rx7 prying on the door handles and the lock cylinder was key'd. They did not get in, one catch though ....... My headlights dont work, the warning cluster says my hatch is open when its not and it only says its open when my drivers door is open which is the handle they tried to open up. The cd player's lights blink, and does not function. Now I sort of looked under the handle and I seen some wiring, so is it possible that this wire is the source of the problems?

I know for a fact they didn't get into the car because the stereo system would be gone, ****** kids ....... If I find them ......... Let's just say its unexplainable how much ******* fury I would unleash on those bastards. Anyways, any thoughts? Sorry about not much info on the wires and **** but I have no clue whats going on inside of the door, and havent really looked at it cause im too mad too think about it and work and all.

Or get an alarm, which im doing this x mas with all the money I get. Gonna go with compustar, and fix up the damage they did. Over time, ima get the door handles shaved for added security.

Take it from someone who has been ripped off numerous times over several years. Alarms don't keep people from taking your ****. They just take it faster. Think about it. When you hear someone else's alarm go off, do you try to hunt down the thief on foot? Do you call the cops to help out the other guy? Probably not. You're probably like the rest of us, annoyed that the loud sob went off in the first place. If you want someone to keep from taking the whole car, invest your money in a fuel or kill switch. Alarms are just high-profit sales items. That is all.

last time mine was broken into they just smashed the window. I got lucky they started to cut the ecu out as well but gave up and just took the radio and boost controller. I don't have a radio anymore and i take the ecu out whenever its parked. I basically only use it as a track car now anyway.

You know what? I thought about that today at work, I never have run up to an alarm thats doing its thing. Although I do always look to see whats going on. Never have looked over at a car thats going off and seen a thief though. Think about those before saying alarms are useless .... Especially Compustar alarms, they have a pager. So if I hear my car going off and I get paged then im running out there and beating the ******* **** out of whoever's attempting to break in. Only way I'll stop is if they have a gun, it'll probly be to late when I find out.

I know for sure its gonna be a fuse ... Like I was saying there's visible wires under the pryed up door handle, bringing me to the prediction that the wires got shorted out or blew a fuse.

I had the exact same problem... just replace the door lock cylinder... I got mine direct from Mazda with a new key for only 60 bux

Well, most RX-7 keys unlock other RX-7s when you jiggle them right. Ben gets a kick out of leaving me presents and notes inside mine. He hasn't had the nerve yet to move it though to screw with me, thankfully...

yea you still need the ignition key for it to start... Theres nothing important to steal inside it... And I didn't tell my friends... lol I don't care until i put a cd deck in it or something... Yea I might go get a new lock tho.

My solution is to: A) clean my cylinders so any key won't open them, and B) not have anything worth any money in my car. If nothing is visible who's car are they going to break into, mine or the Lexus next to mine?

Junkyard? Possibly somebody on the forum can get 'em off a parts car...

I've never had my car broken into, but I would definitely hear it if somebody opened my door or smashed my window. The 7 sits on the driveway and my window looks onto it. I'm about 40 feet from my car at all times

Either way if I got it from a dealership brand new or at a wreckers, could I make it compatible with my original key?

you still have the original lock cylinder? You might be able to swap internals.
