smooth idle but lose power above 3000- Help!?!

91 GXL non turbo - Have tried everything except bending over for the dealer. have a good mechanic who has tried a lot of stuff but has run out of ideas. if i stay below 3k it runs okay, above that it loses power hesitates, misses - all the good terms for not running right. Have changed or temporarily swapped out a lot of parts. plugs, fuel filter, tps sensor ( which is the only alert the computer gives for the problem), the computer, has good pressure from pump - What's going on?

Have you checked the secondary injectors? Mine used to do the same thing only in reverse. It would run shitty under about 3500-4000 rpm. After that it would pick up. Turned out to be bad primaries. Take your secondary injectors and swap them with the primary ones. If your car now runs poorly below 3000 then you probably need to replace the injectors.

I agree with dznuts and to add another thing to look into. Has this been a problem that has gotten worse over time? Have you been experiencing bad gas mileage? Might also want to look into your cat being clogged. Just a thought.
