Smok'n Like A Mad Man

alright heres the deal. when im on the throttle theres no problem but as soon as i get off the throttle BOOOOFF smoke(oil). whats the deal?

when it first started to happen it was while i was racing.
first action i did was turn to the turbo, sense that things been thru hell(2 motors and boosting 15 daily)

i think it would be the seals in the turbo.

now that i have a turbo and manifold im about to thow on, i have other thoughts of what IF it still smokes after i throw the turbo on. *oh no oil control seals are going*. but i dont want to turn to that sense i feed my baby with lots of fuel. if that matters at all.

one more other problem why i wanna keep thinking its my turbo is because, i cant hold boost. 1st gear i can get 5lbs at most secound 8lbs, and 3rd it will go to 15 and dye down when i get around 5.5k + rpms. and also the blades are chewd up

what do you guys think?

thanks
nick

Rev it up to about 6k and hold it there for about 15 seconds then let off. Now does it smoke like a biatch?

replace the turbo. if that doesnt fix it, its the oil control rings.

that's a pretty pricey diagnostic test. I say, the engine warmed up, do as DerangedHermit said but just bring the revs to 4000 for about 15-30 seconds... if smoke billows out of your exhaust.... you have a oil control ring problem. Only way to fix it is a rebuild.

I would think the seals in the turbo would be the best place to look.

how do you know your new turbo doesn't also leak? and turbos are most efficient at one rpm which would be factory boost...more turbo rpms will create more boost but also more temperature, boost creep is bad for the turbo, and if you don't have a blow off valve then maybe when you let off the throttle all of that extra pressure between the compressor and the throttle body may make the seals in the turbo expand letting oil thru or something. not really sure, are you sure the smoke is oil (blue)?? gl
