Unhappy smoking problem

i need help... I got an 86 NA rx7 coverted to 87 TII.. rebuilt the motor for the 4th time in 300 miles now. now the smoking is worse than ever. on rebuild i bought new outer water seals, High compression (inner) seals, new oil seals and O-rings, new 2 peice steel apex seals, new corner seals, and all new springs. When i start the car now it will smoke just a little upon startup and get worse the longer it runs. i drove it down the road about a mile and back and smoked the entire time( worse when goes to idle. I had the housings miked and everything is ok. only thing different is ive been using halomar on the water seals. I have rebuilt over 20 motors in the last 6-8 months and all of those have run perfectly. I am thinking that this smoke is water burning but need other opinions.

thanks

Perhaps its your turbo that's leaking the oil or coolant and smoking instead. I'd look there next if you've checked the engine thoroughly.

And not to insult your rebuild capability (I'm certainly far below you there) but you do realize that you need to properly break in a rebuild first, right? Just checking.

In all seriousness, I'd check the turbo first, and check the color of the smoke (which you didn't mention). White = coolant, black/grey = oil typically. There are a few other subtleties I am not aware of but there are some great threads already on this subject and a quick search ought to get you somewhere.

Good luck!

By the way it is a large cloud of white thick smoke(enough to fill the garage in about 30 seconds). Also I have tried 4 diferent turbos the last and current came off another rx7 1 week ago and it didnt smoke at all on that one.... and each motor is broke in for around 300 miles except for this one. after about 50 miles of it smokeing we know its not just gonna clear up

Is car an auto?

Had an rx2 auto that sucked transmission fluid through a flty valve on a vacuum line between intake manifold & gearbox & it blew heaps of white smoke.

This car is manual transmision but thanks for the help....
Im beginign to think that the inner water seal may have been pinched on this last rebuild.

Well..... guess what???? The iner compression seal on the front housing was pinched between housings and allowing water in the front rotor chamber. i got another set of seals so tommorrow I'll try it again.

Thanks everyone
