Smoke on cold startup only. Smoke meaning huge misquito fogger for the entire city

When I start up the car early in the morning (or for that matter any other time its been sitting for more than 6 hours or so) she does the whole AWS thing. Just when she kicks down she;ll start to spew white... usually white, though I'm practicaly color blind at night... smoke. Its not just a little either-- its quite a bit. If I were to let her sit at idle (not drive her) after starting, it would probably last 5-10 minutes. I usually take off once the rpm's drop down though, and by the time I hit the highway entrance (2 blocks) she's stopped smoking and her usual self.
She does not do this if I let her sit for just a few hours and come back to start up, only if she sits for quite sometime-- 6 hours or more.

I've tried to burn it out of her-- hold a 3k rpm even after she kicks down. Sometimes revving to 4-4.5. Huge clouds of smoke. I could drive it around the block once, bring it back to the driveway and she would be fine. Otherwise she would just sit there for 5-10 minutes and spew a small cloud of smoke.

At 800rpm idle its a small cloud that disapates within 2-3 feet of the exhaust. At 4-4.5k rpm, she;s enough to cover the house, and the neighbor's yard in smoke.

Any ideas. And yeah I did a search on coolent seals and oil seals. Just didn't see anything quite like this. Thanks!!

BTW 136k miles

Question - blue-white stinky smoke or white steamy smoke?

Oil control rings, OMP stuck open, turbo oil seal (not likely, it would be burning all the time if that was the case)... either way start saving

sometimes 2 cranks. Yesturday she was being bitchy and would flood at every shutdown though. I wasn't using the fuel cut switch yesturday though. I did towards the end of the day and she didn't flood.

I have the exact same smoking issue on my 1989. I couldn't have described it better myself! Is there anything you guys could recommend to myself and kenteth? My smoke is white. Is it the OMP? How to fix?

BTW I had to add some coolant lately and or course some oil. 154K on a supposedly rebuilt motor at 80K.
Thanks

Fingers said it right, start saving. Your oil control rings are shot. But look on the bright side right now though, your apex seals are getting more than enouph lubracation.

Are you sure it's not just flooding a little bit? Not enough to prevent a start (although you did say she's been bitchy lately), just enough to cause your "smoke" for a while...
