HC = hydrocarbons - correct
CO = carbon monoxide - correct
NO is actually supposed to be "NOx", which stands for "Oxides of Nitrogen", so you were close.
Hell, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

thank you I am normally about a 75%er. If there had been another abbreviation I think I would have gotten it.
I should have know the last one. I beleive that the oxides of nitrogen are the family of compounds that are responsible for acid rain. the disasociates with the oxygen in the presence of water, forming a super oxide radical. This free radical can then combine with free hydrogen. Oh no I'm all wrong this is the reaction for sulfur, which is released from power plants that use coal. Anyone know the chemistry that makes oxides of nitrogen bad for our air?
I know that in medicine NO causes vasodialation. the mechanism for Viagra. so yall better not huff your NOS alone. he he.
any of you know where I can find a good motor?

That would be Mazda Recyclers in Rancho Cordoba California. Since you are from Mississippi, I dont see that as being a problem for you.

Sheez, this is turning into a chemistry lesson?

Yes, the NOx (both NO/NO2/NO3) combine with water (H20) to form an acid (H2NO3?)...&nbsp Geez, I haven't done this stuff since college!

I see you still remember it well. That acid is not near as strong as the acid formed by burning coal. It can be neutralized by those white rocks on creek banks. maybe yall should stuff some white rocks in your pipes. although your west coast rocks might be a different kind of rock. ha ha.

we just got done well earlier today with our monthly autocross event. I had to borrow a chevy prizm. I came in about 20th out of 35. This is the first time in mississippi autocross history that we have had more racers than degres farenhiet. it was 30degrees today. Our club has a web site, but I can't remember the exact address and they have not updated it yet. When I get it I'll post it here. You should see some of the rice we had out.

I'll find out the address this afternoon. I also got a respnse about the engine I was gooing ot buy. It seems that the problem was a failed t2 coil. This was making the emissions go bad. So I may still buy the motor, however someone else had a rebuilt motor for sale, with a tranny for about the same price. He said it was rebuild by Mazda techs. at the dealership in San Jose Cali. It only has 9K on the rebuild he wrecked the car. Do you know anything about rebuilt motors? Are they reliable. I know a piston rebuild is just as good as when it was new.
