Smog pump hose?

Is this the smog pump hose?

This was already like this when I bought it, and I hear a screech when I let of the gas which turns out to be this hose collapsing for a second. You can see where the arrow is that the hose is worn from repeatedly collapsing in that spot.

Is there a better way this should be done?

Not sure how the airpump hose could collapse...the pump is providing positive pressure, not vacuum.
I'm not familiar enough with turbos to say what that might be though.

What I meant was, are these the hoses that used to connect to the smog pump when it was there? It seems like the smog pump was removed and someone put a union in to join the two pipes, but that's just a guess since I've only ever seen it this way.

follow the hose and tell us where it starts and where it ends.

the smog pump inlet is to the air cleaner, and the exit hose goes to the air control valve, which may have pressure or vacuum without the pump
